Hey, I’m Sarah

A few years ago my best friend asked me to officiate her wedding ceremony in New York.  It was such an incredibly love-drenched, joy-filled and life-affirming experience that on the flight home I decided I would start  studying to become a Marriage Celebrant in Australia. I’ve got a lifetime of experience as a writer, editor and presenter in my back pocket. I’m a former magazine editor (I was at the helm of Gourmet Traveller, Sunday Life, CLEO and Girlfriend) and I’ve been a contributor to the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age. So, if you’d like a journalist with over 20 years of experience at crafting great stories to pen your wedding ceremony, we should work together.

“Working with Sarah was one of the highlights of our wedding. She's compassionate, intuitive, organised, and genuine. Confident and creative as both a writer, performer, and guide. She crafted a beautiful ceremony that 100% reflected who we are as people, and as a couple.”

How this works

We meet

We catch up, get to know each other and if you’d like to work together we get started on the legal paperwork. We’ll need to lodge a Notice of Intention to Marry and complete a Declaration of No Legal Impediment. I’ll make sure this part is completely straight-forward and stress-free for you.

I write

Next up I’ll ask you both some questions about each other and the kind of wedding you would like. That will help me draft up a ceremony for you. We can do as many revisions as it takes to make it absolutely perfect. If you need a hand editing your vows, I can help with that too.

You wed

It’s showtime. I’ll arrive early at the venue, set up and be ready to guide you and your bridal party through the ceremony.  I’ll get you to sign the Marriage Certificate after you’ve exchanged vows and when it’s all over I will lodge the paperwork with Births, Deaths and Marriages and this union will be 100% legal.

“We both highly recommend Sarah. Her beautiful words and calm manner were a highlight of our Canberra wedding ceremony.”

How much does it cost?

I’m here to tell a moving and memorable story about you and your partner. I want to ensure you guys feel completely at ease on the day, and in the lead up I want to take care of all the paperwork so there’s one less thing on your plate.

Weekday wedding $950

Friday wedding $1300

Saturday wedding $1500

Sunday wedding $1200

If your wedding is outside of Canberra, I’m happy to discuss an appropriate travel fee.
